Comvita Leadership Team: Scott Coulter, Mark Sadd, Colin Baskin, Sharon Hollenstein, Simon Pothecary and Ben Shaw.
Scott was appointed CEO of Comvita Limited in October 2015. He joined Comvita as Sales and Marketing Manager in 2003, following senior management roles in sales and marketing at Dominion Salt and Tetra Pak. In 2007, he took on additional managerial and operating responsibilities and became Comvita’s Chief Marketing Officer. Scott was appointed Chief Operating officer and Deputy CEO in 2012. Over his 13 year tenure, Scott has had extensive experience in implementing Comvita’s global strategy for operations, sales and marketing. He was personally named as winner of the Export NZ Bay of Plenty Achiever award in 2010 and was awarded the 2013 NZ Prime Minister’s Business Scholarship, completing the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2014. Scott has a Bachelor of Technology (Biotech) and a Bachelor of Business Studies (Accounting).
Mark joined Comvita in December 2013 and is tasked with optimising costs and profits, reviewing business development opportunities, acquisitions, major supply contracts and commercial agreements. Leading a team with complex budgeting and reporting requirements, his focus is on providing solid forecasting, accurate measurements of results and delivering enhanced value for investors. Mark also acts as Deputy CEO.
Mark comes from a strong management accounting and entrepreneurial background in agribusiness, banking and recently as CFO of Dominion Salt. Over the past few years he has successfully run his own business interests and prior to his appointment, assisted Comvita with a number of cost review initiatives. He has also worked in various advisory roles with a number of local companies. .
Colin Baskin is the newly created Chief Supply Chain Officer, reflecting the importance of supply chain to Comvita. Colin has an international career in Supply Chain within the Primary Sector and joined Comvita in 2007 from ZESPRI International Ltd., where he was Global Supply Manager. In 2014, as General Manager Supply Chain, Colin personally received the Bay of Plenty Tertiary Partnership Export Achievement Award and in May 2015 the Comvita Supply Chain was awarded the NZ China Trade Association (NZCTA) award for Supply Chain Innovation.
As CSCO, Colin has responsibility for Comvita's global supply network including, Olive Products Australia, Kiwi Extracts Ltd, NZ Honey and the Kiwi Bee Apiaries operations. Leading a large team, Colin's focus is on delivering supply efficiencies and enhancing our Supply Partnership.
Sharon Hollenstein joined Comvita in April 2016, in the newly created role of Chief Innovation Officer, from Fonterra where she spent over 10 years in a number of high level innovation and new product development roles; most recently in the position of Global Manager Innovation – Anlene. In this role, Sharon was responsible for delivering innovation initiatives that would deliver significant value growth.
Sharon also comes to us with relevant global market experience having been based in Malaysia for two and a half years, and also holding key positions within Fonterra that focused on the China, Asia, Europe and North American markets. Sharon is responsible for leveraging our brand into new product formats and ingredient platforms.
Simon Pothecary joined Comvita in 2006 as General Manager UK, Europe and the Middle East before becoming the General Manager of Australia in 2014.
His responsibilities have recently been expanded to include domestic NZ, UK and the USA. Prior to Comvita, Simon was a Marketing Director for Consumer Healthcare at GlaxoSmithKline and prior to that, held global and local marketing roles at Pfizer Consumer Healthcare.
Ben Shaw joined Comvita in September 2015 as General Manager Category. He was previously Senior Category Manager at Asahi Premium Beverages where he oversaw the Beer and Cider portfolios.
During this period he launched a number of new brands including the Boundary Road Brewery craft beer range and worked with multiple international brand owners. Prior to this he was Marketing Manager at Les Mills International and held numerous marketing roles at DB Breweries.
